This great toy was inspired by the work of two very serious scientists: Buckminster Fuller — father of the geodesic dome — and Frei Otto, a pioneer in tension structures.

The BafaBallTM is based on the principle of Tensegrity. Tensegrity, the word, derives from 'tensional integrity.' Structures based on Tensegrity have carefully engineered mixtures of tensional (pulling) and compressional (pushing) components. Many sculptures, towers, homes and domes, such as Disney World's Epcot Center, successfully use tensegrity.

BafaBallsTM are also based on the principle of Tensegrity. But don't let that stop you. These things are a lot of fun!
